As part of its ongoing efforts to improve access to emergency health care in rural areas of Nicaragua, the second poorest country in the Western Hemisphere, Nica Heartbeat (non-profit organization from the United States) is subsidizing the First Response Center that will be built and operated in the Tola region. It will be managed by Megan Mack Lachi and Olga Limacher. They will be responsible for finding doctors, volunteers, ensuring first aid for the patients, and creating a viable first response clinic that serves local communities, visitors, and anyone in need. Throughout the first year, they will work closely with MINSA, builders, and similar non-profit organizations to ensure the clinic is built, equipped, and fully operable.

The First Response Center will focus on providing prompt help and stabilization of patients.  We will also provide transportation to the nearest hospital those that have critical care situations. The center will educate local communities on the importance of knowing CPR and first aid by providing educational courses. The clinic will utilize new equipment and a trained staff that will be able to optimize the care of each patient.

The First Response Center will also carry out minor procedures in the office, but only after both risks and benefits have been explained and understood and written consent has been obtained from the patient. The First Response Center will refer patients, when appropriate, to specialists and/or to hospitals for tests, further treatment, and therapy.

Como parte de sus esfuerzos continuos para mejorar el acceso a la atención médica de emergencia en las zonas rurales de Nicaragua, el segundo país más pobre del hemisferio occidental, Nica Heartbeat (organización sin fines de lucro de los Estados Unidos) está subsidiando el First Response Center que se construirá y se trabajará en la región de Tola.

Será administrado por Megan Mack Lachi y Olga Limacher. Serán responsables de encontrar médicos, voluntarios, garantizar los primeros auxilios para los pacientes y crear una clínica de primera respuesta viable que sirva a las comunidades locales, a los visitantes y a cualquier persona que lo necesite. Durante el primer año, trabajarán en estrecha colaboración con el MINSA, los constructores y organizaciones sin fines de lucro similares para garantizar que la clínica esté construida, equipada y totalmente operativa.

 

El Centro de First Response se enfocará en proporcionar ayuda rápida y estabilización de pacientes. También proporcionaremos transporte al hospital más cercano a aquellos que tienen situaciones de cuidados críticos. El centro educará a las comunidades locales sobre la importancia de conocer la RCP y los primeros auxilios mediante cursos educativos. La clínica utilizará nuevos equipos y un personal capacitado que podrá optimizar la atención de cada paciente.

 

 

El First Response Center también llevará a cabo procedimientos menores en la oficina, pero solo después de que se hayan explicado y comprendido tanto los riesgos como los beneficios y se haya obtenido el consentimiento por escrito del paciente. El Centro de First Response derivará a los pacientes, cuando corresponda, a especialistas y hospitales para que realicen pruebas, tratamientos y terapias.
